It's a Staten Island rivalry game to close out October as Monsignor Farrell travels across the borough to take on St. Joseph by the Sea. With two familiar programs meeting late in the season, expect plenty of intensity when the Lions and Vikings take the field.
FARRELL
The Lions dominated last year's meeting, defeating St. Joseph by the Sea 28–6 on October 24, 2025. Farrell's defense held the Vikings scoreless in three of four quarters, while the Lions built a 21–6 halftime advantage and controlled the game the rest of the way.
Farrell finished that season 9–2 and advanced to the CHSFL AAA Championship Game.
ST. JOSEPH BY THE SEA
The Vikings finished 6–5 in 2025, including a strong finish after the loss to Farrell. Sea responded with a victory over Xaverian and continued into postseason play.
This time, the rivalry shifts to St. Joseph by the Sea's home field, where the Vikings will look to turn the tables on their Staten Island rival.
KEYS TO THE GAME
Handle the Rivalry Atmosphere — Records matter less when two Staten Island rivals meet. Farrell needs to stay disciplined and focused.
Control the Trenches — Establishing the run and winning first down can allow the Lions to dictate the tempo.
Pressure the Quarterback — Farrell's defense intercepted Sea twice in last year's matchup. Creating pressure and forcing mistakes could again be a major factor.
Finish the Regular Season Strong — With postseason football approaching, this is an opportunity for Farrell to build momentum when it matters most.
