THE RECORD-SETTING SEASONS OF MONSIGNOR FARRELL FOOTBALL

Every football season tells its own story.  Across generations of Monsignor Farrell football, certain teams and players have produced seasons that continue to stand apart. Some records were built through explosive offense. Others came from dominant defense, remarkable consistency, individual performances, or championship-level team play.

Together, these season records provide a snapshot of the players and teams who have helped define the standard of Farrell Football.

116 POINTS — RICH ROCHE '79

Rich Roche '79 holds the Farrell single-season scoring record with 116 points, recording 19 touchdowns and one PAT.

It remains one of the great individual offensive seasons in program history.

33 GAMES — UNDEFEATED STREAK

From 1968 through 1972, Farrell put together an extraordinary 33-game undefeated streak.

Spanning multiple seasons and generations of players, the streak remains one of the strongest examples of sustained excellence in the history of the program.

22 GAMES — WINNING STREAK

Within that remarkable era came another Farrell record.

From 1969 through 1972, the Lions won 22 consecutive games, establishing a standard of consistency that has endured for more than five decades.

345 POINTS — 2025

The 2025 Lions established a new team scoring record with 345 points.

The record is particularly significant because it connects the current generation of Farrell Football with the great teams of the program's past.

The 2025 team finished 9–2 and advanced to the CHSFL AAA Championship Game, producing one of the most successful offensive seasons in Farrell history.

6 POINTS ALLOWED — 1970

Defense defined the remarkable 1970 season.

Farrell allowed just six points for the entire season, a staggering defensive achievement that remains one of the most impressive records in the program's history.

5 SHUTOUTS — 1969 & 1970

Two consecutive Farrell teams share the record for most shutouts in a season.

The 1969 Lions recorded five shutouts, and the 1970 Lions matched the mark with five more.

Those numbers help illustrate just how dominant the Farrell defenses of that era were.

40 PAT PLACEMENTS — 2025

The record-setting 2025 offense also established a new mark for PAT placements with 40.

It is another indication of the Lions' ability to consistently finish drives and put points on the scoreboard throughout the season.

12 INTERCEPTIONS — GARY GRELLA '79

Gary Grella '79 holds the individual season record with an incredible 12 interceptions.

Grella's ability to create turnovers made him one of the most productive defensive playmakers in Farrell history.

270 PASS ATTEMPTS — MICHAEL GENTILE '07

Michael Gentile '07 established the season record for passing attempts with 270.

His volume through the air represented an important chapter in the evolution of the Farrell offense.

155 PASS COMPLETIONS — MICHAEL GENTILE '07

Gentile also holds the single-season record for pass completions with 155.

Together, his 270 attempts and 155 completions make his 2007 campaign one of the most prolific passing seasons in program history.

1,945 PASSING YARDS — BRYCE MOYE '25

More than a decade later, Bryce Moye '25 established the Farrell season record for passing yardage with 1,945 yards.

His record-setting performance helped power the Lions' historic 2025 offense and their run to the CHSFL AAA Championship Game.

28 TOUCHDOWN PASSES — ANTHONY ABRUZESE '91

Anthony Abruzese '91 owns one of Farrell's most impressive quarterback records.

Abruzese threw 28 touchdown passes in a single season, a mark that continues to stand as the most in program history.

63 RECEPTIONS — ANDREW LUNAROLA '13

Andrew Lunarola '13 established the single-season receiving record with 63 catches.

The mark represents a level of consistency and production that remains unmatched among Farrell receivers.

71% COMPLETION RATE — BRYCE MOYE '25

Bryce Moye added another Farrell record during his outstanding 2025 campaign, completing 71% of his passes.

That performance gives Moye the highest single-season passing percentage in program history in addition to his record for passing yardage.

2,124 RUSHING YARDS — JOSH AMARO '03

Josh Amaro '03 owns the Farrell single-season rushing record with an extraordinary 2,124 yards.

Surpassing 2,000 yards in a season places Amaro's performance among the great individual offensive achievements in Monsignor Farrell history.

34 TEAM INTERCEPTIONS — 1979

The 1979 Lions established the team record with 34 interceptions in a single season.

With Gary Grella accounting for a record 12 himself, the 1979 defense developed a remarkable ability to take the football away and turn defense into opportunity.

RECORDS ARE MADE TO BE CHASED

Every number in the Farrell record book represents a season of preparation, sacrifice and performance.

Some of these marks have stood for more than half a century. Others were established only last season.

Together, they connect generations of Lions — from the dominant teams of the late 1960s and early 1970s, through the record-setting players of the decades that followed, to the 2025 team that added its own chapter to Farrell history.

And every new season brings another opportunity.

Another player can make his mark.

Another team can raise the standard.

Another record can fall.

HONOR THE PAST. SET THE STANDARD. MAKE HISTORY.
