Monsignor Farrell heads to Manhattan for a Friday night CHSFL showdown against Cardinal Hayes. With the regular season moving into its final stretch, this matchup gives the Lions another major test away from home.
FARRELL
Farrell enters the matchup with recent success against the Cardinals. In 2025, the Lions defeated Cardinal Hayes 38–13 on Staten Island as part of Farrell's outstanding 9–2 season and run to the CHSFL AAA Championship Game.
The October meeting comes after a demanding stretch against Iona Prep, Archbishop Stepinac and Xavier, putting the Lions in the heart of their league schedule.
CARDINAL HAYES
Cardinal Hayes remains a dangerous opponent despite a challenging 2025 campaign. The Cardinals' schedule featured many of the area's strongest programs, including Iona Prep, Archbishop Stepinac, St. Anthony's, Chaminade and Farrell.
Playing in Manhattan gives Hayes a familiar setting, while Farrell will need to bring its game on the road for another physical Catholic League battle.
KEYS TO THE GAME
Start Fast — Farrell doesn't want to allow Hayes to build early momentum. An aggressive opening quarter can set the tone.
Control the Trenches — Establishing the running game and winning first down will help Farrell control tempo and possession.
Create Pressure — Disrupting the Hayes offense and forcing difficult third-down situations will be critical.
Finish on the Road — Farrell handled Hayes convincingly last season, but every year brings a different matchup. The Lions need four complete quarters.
